The Submosteiro house, also called the Vasconcelos Manor, was built around 1770.
The fact that this is a property of Public Interest classified in the Decree No 129/77 of 29th September, did not prevent, in 1980, its almost total demolition, with only the main façade being spared.
Looking to find a dignified solution for what was left of the existing building, the Vila do Conde Municipal Council acquired the property, creating thus the conditions necessary for the installation of equipment to understand different cultural elements, including the production of exhibitions , exhibition of film and video, organization of conferences, concerts and theatre and dance performances.
