Description

Classified as a monument of public interest, it consists of a 20 metre in diametre sepulchral mound, that was discovered in archaeological excavations carried out in 1991.This megalithic construction is a cultural phenomena and a result of the use of large granite stones, artfully placed, involving the megalithic tomb, then covered with earth and stones, forming small artificial hills, which always stood out in the landscape.

The Mound I is part of the Megalithic site of São Cristóvão, consisting of nine tumuli.
